Christmas Eve with Russell

If he doesn't like something we're doing to him, he just falls over and lays on the floor.
This right here, is Russ' classic "you guys kind of suck" face.

*grumblegrumblegrumble*

hahaha

Saved him from the bow, and now he's all hugs

Christmas Cookies, Take Two

I got my wish:
[Prepare Yourself for the Cuteness.]

To my sister, Corinne

On the occasion of your birthday,
which some might refer to as Christmas Eve,
but which is actually, always and forever more
Corinne's Birthday.
Happy Birthday to You

I carry your heart

Katie & Jason, December 19, 2009

TJ's family is beyond-words special to us. Our journey with him did not end when he left this world, and we are so thankful that it led us to know his family. They were so kind as to invite us to the wedding of Katie (TJ's sister) and Jason. And while I don't have any pictures from the wedding itself, I did manage to capture a few moments with our friends Nate and Sarah.  They recently returned to Kentucky from Moab, Utah. We missed them very much and will be taking advantage of the fact that they now live 'only' 5-6 hours away instead of a day or two. :)

All dressed up, and unknowingly running LATE!!

I have some seriously weird looking knees.
I'm okay with this.
And why does hotel carpet have to be so ugly?

Nate, our remaining Ginger

Sarah and I

awwe :)

Proving that I can get all four of us into a picture!

Learning to laugh at myself
At my supreme dorkiness (of which I am almost proud)
and at my almost obsessive need to photographically document as much as possible.

There was a lot of this weekend that did not get documented.
Mark and I walking in late to the wedding
(a lovely story to maybe be told later, haha),
Dancing at the reception,
Lots and lots of champagne,
Breakfast the next morning at one of TJ's favorite buffets,
The Cake Party at Katie and Jason's new house.
Sometimes, it doesn't feel right to walk around with the camera attached to my neck.
Sometimes, I just have to keep the memories alive in my head, and in my heart.

Thanks to the Bartlett/Pagan family for a beautiful weekend, and beautiful memories.

Do me a favor

Go to youtube right now and type in "Adam Sandler Hanukkah Song".
And try not to sing along.
Pretend like you don't still remember some, or most, of the words.

If that song, can't put a smile on your face,
then I don't know if we can be friends.

Kidding...

....kind of.

[PS love you CoCo and Eric!]

My Top Chef

1. Start out with a great Sous-Chef (that would be me)
2. Must have someone who knows how to cook meat, fish, rice, and pasta (that would be him)

3. Be efficient in not burning while drinking wine

4. Multi-Task

5. Buy the best cheese available

6. Be Creative

7. Use things you already have around the house.
And, bacon makes everything more awesome.

8. Steamed Vegetables with a little bit of fresh lemon juice and dill,
always a winner

Holiday Traditions

We are both extremely thankful to our parents for all of the wonderful holiday traditions they carried on throughout our youth. (EDIT: throughout our youth??? Did I really type that and no one called me out on it?!)
They have led to many awesome, and hilarious stories.
This year, we started what I think will definitely turn into a tradition.
Cookies!

Homemade sugar cookie dough,
Chilled for two hours, and ready for rolling out.
[Didn't know until I made these how temperamental cookie dough can be!]

Pretending I know what I'm doing

The first batch

"Quit peeking!"

Always a little time left over to torture the cat

And, the Finished Product:

We had a blast.
But, I do have to say that I definitely missed the chaos of having kiddo's getting icing everywhere, spilling sprinkles, and eating more cookies then decorating! I didn't realize how much their laughter and joy can 'make the moment'. Guess I'll have to make some more and take them to my sisters' house to make a mess! :)
